About Us

OUR UNIQUE HISTORY

In 1995 we moved from our home in Canberra Australia to Washington DC USA to begin a diplomatic assignment at the Embassy of Australia. The 2 year assignment became 16 years, with Michael working at the Embassy and David working for the US Department of State. In 2011 we made the decision to leave Washington and move to our new home in Hawaii. As the new owners of Kane Plantation we are proud to honor the legacy of Herb Kawainui Kane and share with you the special gift that Herb created on Hawaii Island.

Outside

Kane Plantation is a 27 acre working organic avocado farm. The elevation rises from 1100 feet to 1700 feet and is ideal for growing avocado, as well as the tropical fruits and flowers we use in our B&B.

Guests are welcome to explore the farm and view the Packinghouse operations during their stay.

Amazingly beautiful with top service

Maybe one of the most beautiful rooms I've ever stayed in. Vintage koa furniture, private zen garden, large walk in shower and a mini-library all in the room and with a view. David and his team were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was lovely to look at and delicious (and huge). We so want to stay there again.

About Our Farm

We export our delicious Sharwil avocado to the US mainland under a USDA/APHIS regulated program from November to March each year, and supply local markets with other avocado varieties from October to May. Our avocado groves and Packinghouse are USDA Organic and  GAP certified for food safety, and we take pride in farming sustainably and responsibly and protecting our beautiful environment.
